Thank you all !!
you were really helpfull

1/0 is not undefined... it's infinity. They teach you about 1/0=undefined only in schools. Calculators give you error because Infinity is too large to represent.

This may interest you: https://www.google.com/search?q=calculator

It's simple double-float calculator, no imaginary numbers. If you type 1/0, you get Infinity. 0^0 is 1 here, but it's because of simple methods of calculation to give this result. 0/0 is Error. sqrt(-1) is Error. Type them in calculator, not in search bar.

It takes a whole textbook of hundred of pages to study "Venn diagrams and Sets". Be realistic!.

Solve for x:
(-2-x)/8+(x-3)/6+x/3 = (3 x-1)/6

Put each term in (-2-x)/8+(x-3)/6+x/3 over the common denominator 24: (-2-x)/8+(x-3)/6+x/3 = (3 (-2-x))/24+(4 (x-3))/24+(8 x)/24:
(3 (-2-x))/24+(4 (x-3))/24+(8 x)/24 = (3 x-1)/6

(3 (-2-x))/24+(4 (x-3))/24+(8 x)/24 = (3 (-2-x)+4 (x-3)+8 x)/24:
(3 (-2-x)+4 (x-3)+8 x)/24 = (3 x-1)/6

3 (-2-x) = -6-3 x:
(-6-3 x+4 (x-3)+8 x)/24 = (3 x-1)/6

4 (x-3) = 4 x-12:
(4 x-12+8 x-3 x-6)/24 = (3 x-1)/6

Grouping like terms, 8 x+4 x-3 x-12-6 = (-3 x+4 x+8 x)+(-6-12):
((-3 x+4 x+8 x)+(-6-12))/24 = (3 x-1)/6

-3 x+4 x+8 x = 9 x:
(9 x+(-6-12))/24 = (3 x-1)/6

-6-12 = -18:
(9 x+-18)/24 = (3 x-1)/6

Multiply both sides by 24:
(24 (9 x-18))/24 = 4 (3 x-1)

(24 (9 x-18))/24 = 24/24×(9 x-18) = 9 x-18:
9 x-18 = (24 (3 x-1))/6

24/6 = (6×4)/6 = 4:
9 x-18 = 4 (3 x-1)

Expand out terms of the right hand side:
9 x-18 = 12 x-4

Subtract 12 x from both sides:
(9 x-12 x)-18 = (12 x-12 x)-4

9 x-12 x = -3 x:
-3 x-18 = (12 x-12 x)-4

12 x-12 x = 0:
-3 x-18 = -4

Add 18 to both sides:
(18-18)-3 x = 18-4

18-18 = 0:
-3 x = 18-4

18-4 = 14:
-3 x = 14

Divide both sides of -3 x = 14 by -3:
(-3 x)/(-3) = 14/(-3)

(-3)/(-3) = 1:
x = 14/(-3)

Multiply numerator and denominator of 14/(-3) by -1:
Answer: |x = (-14)/3

No solutions exist!. Any value you choose for x will give you a zero!.

There are 40 coins in a tin. It contains $1 coins, $0.50 coins and $0.20 coins. The number of $1 coins is 5 times as many as $0.50 coins. The total value is $33.80. How many $1 coins are there?

how to round off 131.88 to the nearest tenth

look at the hundredth. It is larger than 5, hence round up and 131.88 is rounded off to 131.9

Hello Guest!

Where is f(x) = (1/32)sqrt(x) + 1/x, x>0, concave up and concave down?

\({\color{blue}f(x)=\frac{1}{32}\times\sqrt{x}+\frac{1}{x} }\)          x > 0

The graph is downwards convex in the range x> 0.

Hello Guest!

a solid pyramid of height 40 cm with a square base of sides 30 cm each is put into a cubicle tank of sides 40 cm each. the tank is then filled with water. If the pyramid is removed, find the depth of water in the tank.

V_Tank = \(40^3 cm^3=64000cm^3\)

V_Py = \(\frac{1}{3}\times 30^2cm^2\times 40cm=12000cm^3\)

V_Rest = V_Tank - V_Py = \(64000cm^3-12000cm^3=52000cm^3\)

h = V_Rest / A_Tank = \( \frac{52000cm^3}{40^2cm^2}{\color{blue}=32,5cm}\)

\({\color{blue}After \ removing \ the \ pyramid \ from \ the \ tank, }\)

If you understood what I have stated as my assumption - then there is no 'BUT'

Wolfram alpha has answered a different question as it has made a different assumption.

This is why questions should be stated exactly with no room for reasonable alternate interpretations.

I never suggested that your answer was incorrect although you should have stated the assumption that you were making.

(i.e. that all the dice were uniquely identifiable)

I understand what you are assuming. But W/A assumes that are DIFFERENT as though you had 4 different-coloured dice. That is how they get 10 different ways out of 1,296 ways of tossing 4  six-sided dice.Please note that the total of 432 ways that I got agrees with the probability that I arrived at, which was 33.33%. And 432 ways out of a total of 1,296 =432/1296 =33.33%.

Volume of a pyramid = 1/3 x Area of base x height
= 1/3 x 900 x 40
= 12000 cm^3

Volume of tank = length x breadth x height
= 40 x 40 x 40
= 64000 cm^3
64000 - 12000 = 52000 cm^3 water left
52000 cm^3 / 40 x 40 = h
h = 32.5cm

So, the depth of water in the tank is 32.5 cm. Hopefully that helped!

Hi asinus  :)

if A= pi r squared 2 find A when r=34 cm

\({\color{blue}A=r^2\times \pi=34^2cm^2\times\pi=3631.681cm^2}\) !

You are very welcome.

I'll give you 5 stars for your excellent manners :)

Thank you!!! This really helped me!

No this is not true with my assumption that I have stated.

The dice are identical so 3,1,1,1 is identical to 1,1,1,3 and 1,3,1,1 and 1,1,3,1

This is NOT 4 ways this is only 1 way.

Take the case of getting a total of 6 with rolling of 4 dice. As the coefficient of n^6 =10. There are 10 different ways of getting a total of 6, and they are:

1 1 1 3   1 2 1 2       2 1 1 2     3 1 1 1
1 1 2 2   1 2 2 1       2 1 2 1
1 1 3 1   1 3 1 1       2 2 1 1

The exact probability is: 10 / 6^4 =10 / 1296. Look here at W/A:

http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=4+dice+tossed,+total+6

Click on "Exact form". it gives the above number 10/1296. but they reduce it by dividing it by 2 =5/648.

Please note that I have assumed all of the dice are identical :)
