Taxes are basically paying to live in this country. You consent to it just like you consent to giving your money when you purchase a coke from the grocery store. Just in this case, you are purchasing the protection that comes with residing in the country. You are also purchasing the use of roads and things like that. And taxes are purchasing the opportunity to put your kid in school, and also purchasing some protection in case you end up broke on the streets.

I certainly do not approve of what all the government does with the taxes, but it is a compromise.

If you don't want to pay any taxes, maybe you can find some island in some remote location that isn't claimed. Or start a revolt or something. But I don't reccommend the latter.

Put more simply:

The calculator is correct  

The volume =  (1/3)  Area of the base * height

The base is assumed to be a square so its area  = (6m)^2  =  36m^2

The height is given by : sqrt [slant height ^2  - (1/2 of the base)^2 ]  =

 sqrt ( 10^2  - 3^2) m  =  sqrt (91) m

So.......the volume  =    

(1/3)(36m^2) ( sqrt (91) m) ^2  =  (12 m^2) (sqrt ( 91) m)  ≈

114.47 m^3

Let  H  be the height of the flagpole  and B the height of the building

And we have that

tan (28)  = B / 100  →   100 tan (28)   = B      (1)

tan (39.75)  =   ( B + H) / 100   →   100 tan (39.75)  =  B + H     (2)

Write an equation to determine the number of bags of chips that Mr. Kinckerbocker bought if he spent exactly the $25. Can't think right now. Just the equation is fine, I'll solve it.
