 Actually, I answered with both momentum and velocity. Though not asked for, I included velocity because in dynamical systems, a mass’s position in space and rate of change of position in space are almost always useful pieces of information. This is especially so in situations involving vehicle crashes.

There is no closed form analytical solution to a general 6th order polynomial.  You would usually need to use a numerical technique.  

There are some specific 6th order polynomials that do allow of an analytical solution (e.g. (x-n)⁶=0), but generally you have to use a numerical approach.  Do you have a specific polynomial in mind

Well i don't usually make the same assumptions as Chris makes.

the 15% bottle is not used so it is irrelevant.

I am going to assume that the bottle containing the 90% concentrate is completely full. When the chemist tries to pour more acid into that bottle it cannot go in because the bottle is already full. 

So the concentrate remains at 90% and the Chemist has to go to hospital to get his burns treated.  (yes it is bound to be a male, I expect that there are more male chemists in the world than female so I expect that statistically my bias would prove to be somewhat justified - sorry guys)

This is why chemists should never drink on the job!

You can't use pythagoras because you only have 1 side.

So you have to use trig.

depending on where you put the 40 degrees it could be cos or sin.

The answer by Melody has an error: the circle DEF should be 1/3, not 1/2. 1/3 = 6/18, changing the probability to 5/18.

I appologise, I thought your were just trying to make it complicated.

Converting to inches and then back again really is a most awkward way of doing it but if it works for you that is fine.

I would not do it your way anyhow but I am Australian, we have not used feet and inches on a general basis since about 1970 so converting from metres to inches (unnecessarily) would never make sense to me. :))

Remember Rosala, pi is an irrational number so your answer is an approximation.

They are very unlikely to be independent events because the market tends to be either up or down over any given period of time, pluys if one company is going broke then its competitor might be doing really well.

  However if the companies are not in the same sector (similar field) or in the same country they would be more independent than otherwise.

 Considering his proficiency, I’m sure he does. However, I was using a company computer, and the command “Letex” is used to initiate Schematron-based XHTML table validation scripts for creating LaTeX formula images. D**k, a  company programming troll, used “LaTex” as a command to start a process to produce extra-large latex rubbers. The demand for these is small and I didn’t want to start something I couldn't finish.

No. They are two different quantities.

Velocity is the speed with the direction.

Momentum is the product of mass and its velocity.
