We have a sum of a geometric series
The sum = Initial Amt [ 1 - common ratio ^n ] / [ 1 - common ratio ]
Intial amt = 25000
Common ratio = 1 + 4% = 1.04
n = 10 (years)
So
Total =
25000 [ 1 - 1.04^10] / [ 1 -1.04] ≈ $300,152.68
You didn't do anything wrong.....this isn't true for all non-negative integers
I'm not completly sure what you mean but when we sometimes need to make a fraction equal to 1 we multiply it by it's recipical like this.
\(\frac{4}{9}*\frac{9}{4}=\frac{36}{36}\)
and when thats simplified it is equal to 1
