I actually like yours better than mine, because you only used one of each of the numbers given. I think this is what it was meant for.

If you think about it, if you could use endless amounts of any number, you would come to the answer of 873 eventually just by adding and suctracting numbers!

Alright, I'll try my best to answer this.

Beatriz wants to show attendance and temperature, and want's to pursuade the city's Parks Deparment to put in more gazebos.

Let's label the X axis "temperature" and the Y axis "attendance."

For the sake of this graph, let's say that attendence goes down with high temperatures, up with medium temperatures, and down again with low temperatures.

The low attendance with high temperatures would hopefully pursuade the Park's Department to put in more gazebos.

The intervals will depend on the data she collects. For example, if the high attendence is 30 and the low attendence is 0, it would make sence to have each interval of the Y axis go up by 5. If the high attendence is 5 and the low 0, it would be more reasonable to go by intervals of 1. Also, the lines themselves would depend on the data she collects.

This should give Beatriz the information she needs to create a graph.

It'd be easier for me to create a graph and show you if we had the actual information. I'm not so good with the theoretical stuff. :)

(1/3) / (2/1) is the same as 1/3 * 1/2 which in turn would become 1/6.

Dividing by x is the same as multiplying by its repciprocal.

For example 8/2 is the same as 8 * 0.5

Dividing by 2 is the same as multiplying by 0.5.

1/2 is the reciprocal of 2/1.( just flip the numbers upside down )

I am going to start the wrap with a grump I am sorry.   

I really was not impressed with this thread this morning.  A new member, Mari379, asked a serious question.

Rosala welcomed her to the forum, that was nice, thank you Rosala.

Then Zegroes, Rosala and DragonSlayer turned the thread into a fun post.  Yes it was funny, that is why I didn't just white it out but by the time sevenUP answered the actual question.  The serious answer was lost amongst the sea of humour.  A couple of hours later, Mari reposted and CPhill anwered.  She should have been able to see her answer in the first place.  You should all be a just a little bit ashamed of yourselves.

You know I don't mind you playing on the forum,  in fact I really like it,  BUT please do not do it on serious posts. Especially when the question is not fully answered yet. 

Trying to follow all the steps Alan you wrote out in the second answer you gave. Forgetting about the mistake

in the book in the printing in the book for a second.

In the first rearrangement of the first equation: where are you getting the 5 from? are you just dividing the 50

 by the 10 in the denominator? I've been off maths so long and i'm so rusty! I thought that in that case that

would

cancel out the denominator and you couldn't use it further on.

Same with the bit where  we have 5 - 13/60 where is the 13/60 coming from?

You have to keep the equation balanced.  Whatever you do to one side you have to do to the otherside as well.

In this picture, you would want to get the x by itself, but to do so you need to take away 10 from the left hand side,  that's okay but if you want the scale to stay balanced then you have to take 10 off the other side as well.

$$y=28/7$$ (now we'll simply devide 28 and 7 which then will give us our y)

$$y=4$$  $$ANSWER$$

To solve this is really simple and easy needhelp!You just have to do step by step as the question says!and as u dont know the number you will assume it to be x and just do as the question says and that will give u ur answer!Let me show you!

Here we are assuming the munber to be x so....

i think of a number = x

i add 126 = x + 126 

i multiply by 19 = x + 126 * 19 

the answer is 46

x + 126 * 19 = 46  (now just solve this equation and you'll get your x or in other words you can say that u'll get ur number)

x + 126 * 19 = 46

x + 2394 = 46 

x=46 - 2394 

x= - 2,348  ANSWER

so we've got our x which is -2,348 

Now if you want me to show you the proof for the answer is correct then the proof is here

Here we have placed -2,348 in place of x as the number

-2,348 + 126 * 19 

=46 ANSWER

so now uve seen that our answer is correct!
