Dragon u just have to pickle up the like values with the sign they have in front of them and then place that value with its matching one like I did in the second one!

I don't think that you have had enough time to think about my answer properly yet!

you can only add like terms.  Like terms must have exactly the same letters.

-3x+2y+3+7

=  -3x  +2y  +3  +7      The sign always belongs to the number of letter behind it.

you can only add the 3 and the 7 because the other two have letters 

= -3x +2y +10

You can not add lots of x with lots of y so it is now finished.

4x  +3  +6x  +4  +2xy  +3yx  +2

you can add the 3 and the 4 and the 2 because they are just numbers.

=4x  +6x  +2xy  +3yx  +3  +4  +2

=4x  +6x  +2xy  +3yx  +11

Now you can add the 4lots of x to the 6 lots of x because they are both lots of x   that will be 10 lots of x

= 10x +2xy +3yx  +11

now   2*3=3*2 doesnt it?   So    x*y=y*x     SO   3yx = 3*y*x = 3*x*y

so I can add 2xy to 3yx  because the letters are the same!     2xy+3yx= 5xy     (OR   5yx)

= 10x + 5xy + 11       

I am confused still on the showing work part... Can you explain please?

DragonSlayer the first ones really easy , u don't have to do anything and just add 3 and 7 like this

-3x+2y+3+7

= -3x+2y+10 answer 

and in the second one we will bring the like terms together ands solve like

4x+3+6x+4+2xy+3yx+2         ( so now out here we shall bring the like terms together !Note that as out here we have no equal sign so we will not change any signs while bringing the like terms together!

=4x+6x+3+4+2+2xy+3yx           ( and now we shall do as we have placed the values )

=10x+9+2xy+3yx    ANSWER

f(x)=-x+3; g(x)=x-4

g(x)=-f(x)-1

That is pretty tricky - drawing a map of your home state!
