I don't know about you, but I would use a protractor.

The surface you have to cover divide by the suface each boxes cover.

Now do the math.

35%=35/100=7/20

Use the formula a²+b²=c² when looking at any right triangle.

a and b may be interchangable but may not be c because c is the hypotenuse. You must have the measurements for at least two sides to find the third.

After substituting in your known values into the formula, solve for the unknown variable to get the remaining side in question.

You always think of graphs more readily than I do :)

Let the son's age now  = x   ....  then the father's age is 4x

And in four years, we have

3(x + 4) = 4x + 4   simplify

3x + 12 = 4x + 4

x = 8   and that's the son's age now

And the father's age now is 4x = 4(8)  = 32
